BTC Tournament 2020 - Singles back on

Dear all,

Now that the easing of restrictions has allowed us to play tennis again, we have decided to move forwards with the 2020 Butterfly Tennis Club knockout tournament, and have re-opened entries into the men's and women's singles events. Please note that by entering you agree to adhere to the club's social distancing guidelines and must abide by them. If government guidance allows, we will look to play the doubles events as well in due course but as things stand this is not possible.

To play in the tournament you must be a paid-up member of the club and get your entry in by the end of May 31st.

To enter, if you haven't already, please go here: https://butterflytennis.mycourts.co.uk/tournaments.asp?yr=2020 and enter your DOB, (which we keep confidential), and away you go. If you entered already, before the Coronavirus outbreak, your entry remains valid. However, if you no longer wish to/are able to play please either remove your registration or let me know. It's completely FREE to enter. All singles matches are best of three tie-break sets.

We are still planning on running plate competitions in the men's and ladies' singles events. This means if you lose in round one of the main draw you are automatically entered into a second knockout draw with the other first round losers and you go again! This way everybody gets the opportunity to play at least two matches and even if you get a tough draw in the main event and lose in round one, you could still come away a champion! PLEASE NOTE - We will only be running each plate event if we get a minimum of 16 entries into each of the main singles draws.

We really need as many ladies as possible to enter the singles event. It's only a bit of fun so please encourage all and any female members you know to enter and enjoy themselves. Last year we only had 8 singles entries in the ladies event so we want to smash that out the park this year!

Here's a reminder of the key dates:

Entries open - Now!
Entry deadline - end of Sunday May 31st
Matches can be played from Monday June 1st
Proposed finals weekend (lockdown permitting) - 22nd & 23rd August
(Reserve finals weekend in case of rain - 29th & 30th August)

Any questions please let me know.

Thanks

Adam
