Dear all,
Thank you for renewing your membership at or joining the Butterfly Tennis Club for the 2017-18 season. Your membership runs until 31 March 2018.
On sunny days like today, when about 15 children (a few were already away on holiday) were having lessons on court from 9-11am and the rest of the day looks perfect for everyone else to try to have a game, we realise how lucky we are to have such a great facility on our doorstep.
The club is run by volunteers and we are always looking for others to help out, so please get in touch if you'd like to help. The AGM followed the Open Day a couple of weekends ago and the new committee was voted in. The Committee Members are as follows :
Marc Baylis - Chair, Treasury, Membership, Tournaments, Kids Tennis
Hugh Brown - Vice Chair, Finance Support, Wimbledon Tickets
Tony Atkins - Secretary
Peter Gray - Future Development (possibly Floodlights and eventually resurfacing)
Michele Jannuzzi - Web and Social Media
Andy Blacknell - Committee Member
Marc Tinguely - Committee Member

Hugh Brown stepped down as Chair of the Club at the AGM, but will continue to play an important role at the Club. On behalf of the other Committee Members and hopefully all of the current and former members, I'd like to thank him for his time, effort and dedication over the last 8 (or so) years.
Social Tennis on Sunday evenings has been cancelled as nobody volunteered to run the sessions and there weren't enough members participating. However we will instead be running a few Social American Doubles tournaments where players change partners every 8 games with an overall champion crowned at the end. The first one will be on Bank Holiday Monday 1st May from 2-6pm. Details of registration will follow in a separate email.
The Box League continues and will run until 30th April. If anyone would like to join the next League, which will start in May, please reply and let me know. There are still many matches to be played in the current league, so please get playing!
The Ladder continues although it seems to be losing popularity and more matches are played in the Box Leagues.
The annual tournaments will begin in May with the aim of having a Finals Weekend in early September. We will be having Men's and Ladies' singles, Men's Doubles and Mixed Doubles. There will be a special emphasis on getting the Ladies' singles tournament running properly this year, so I encourage as many Ladies as possible to enter.
Adult coaching continues with Matt Bennett, but I will send out a separate email on that shortly.
The door code will be changing on 6th April so please look out for an email which will be send out to members when it is done. Please also keep the new code strictly to yourself.
